Problems creating a custom Symantec Recovery Disk

Good day,

Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this problem that I am having when creating a SRD from the norton Ghost 14 installation.

I am currently using a HP dc7900 and Ghost 14 to create images on a NAS bax based on a timed schedule. The out of the box Ghost 14 CD does not support the NIC on this PC and as such i need to create a custom recovery cd with the driver for the HP dc7900 included.

I am going throught the SRD creation wizard within ghost 14 on the PC and it is picking up an Intel driver and a QoS driver that are required. However when the disk is created the network card is still not visablein the SRD recovery environment and I cannot get to my image in order to restore it.

Has any one else had this problem and how can I go about creating this custom SRD where the drivers are included.

Thanks for your help!!

Yes, I can select the inf file manually from my memory stick using the Add Driver option once the machine has booted to the SRD recovery environment. The pc is able to access the NAS storage ok.

However It would obviously be preferential to have the driver built in to the SRD and have It install when the PC is booted from this disk, rather than having to have a separate CD or memory stick containing the driver. Is this possible and if so how can It be set up.

Also, we have several other machines from HP,  DC7800  and DC7700. It would be great to have the driver files for these machines also on the CD

Regards.

When you went through the customer recovery disk wizard, did you try manually adding the driver after it came up with the list of missing drivers?  When you see that list of missing drivers you should see an "Add" button that will allow you to add the INF for the NIC drivers.

Thanks for the reply, Last time to tried to create a custom SRD using the wizard i attempted to add about six or seven drivers. when the wizard completed, i booted from the CD that i just created but it failed to recognise the NIC adaptor.

When creating the CD i know that I have to select the INF files, but does the wizard take any additional files that are are used by the drivers Or is is just the INF flie that is required?

Regards.

When you add the INF it should it will build the driver based off that information.  After you’ve added and you get back to the list, it should list that driver by name.  Keep in mind you need the driver package and not just an INF from your system.  Make sure you are also using the latest driver version from the manufacturers site.
