Under VSS in the application event log, I have two identical errors:
" Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80070005. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process."
I don't recall running LiveUpdate prior to imaging the machine.
Thanks for your help.
I apologize; what I meant was that you should probably run LiveUpdate to get all available product updates installed on your system. Have you tried checking your disk for errors with chkdsk? I’ve also read about this error occurring because of a registration fixer program being installed. Can you provide any more information about your setup?
Hello,
I had been dual-booting XP and Vista until about a month ago, when I decided I'd rather have the extra disk space instead of Vista. I used Norton Ghost 14 to make an image of my Vista partition, in case I ever wanted to use Vista again. Last week I bought a 1TB drive, and I'm trying to restore that Vista image to this drive, but once Vista boots I get the error message "The procedure entry point SdbGetAppCompatSize could not be located in the dynamic link library apphelp.dll." I click OK, and get the error message "IE Per-User Initiation Utility has stopped working." I click close the program, and I get a taskbar pop-up menu saying "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile." etc etc. If I log out and log back in, I the same thing happens.
Is there any way to save this image, or am I going to have to scratch-reload?
I’ve not seen this error before…Ghost reports all warnings and errors to the Windows Event log. Could you look at the application event logs and check for any warnings/errors from Ghost, Ghost Service, V2i, Volume Shadow Copy Service, etc? Have you run LiveUpdate in Ghost until there are no more updates? Any of this information would be helpful in determining the cause. Thanks!
