I upgraded from Norton Internet Security (on my Windows 11 PC) to Norton 360. Norton keeps telling me that 360 is installed, but I cannot find it, and NIS is still there just as it always was
Changing the installed product can be a multi stage update process.
Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available? Then restart again. Restarting, not shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
Thank you Peterweb -- restarting seems to have done the trick! I now have 'Norton 360' in my system tray and all seems well with the installation.
But I now have a new problem... Norton doesn't seem to be able to reach the Norton server in order to set up the features. Any idea what that's about? Surely the Norton Firewall would let itself through!
The classic interface does not change between NIS and 360 with the exception of the last main pillar on the right will say 'My Norton' instead of 'More Norton'. You should also see a Backup pillar in the centre of the interface. You may also see Security for the product name at the top, but this is in fact a 360 install.
If you are not seeing this, have you restarted your computer since upgrading? Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature..
