Are you backing up to more than one drive? What are the exact steps you take when attempting to backup the entire C: drive? I apologize for the questions; I want to be sure we fully understand the problem. Thanks!

My C drive has 3 partitions....C, L, D. D & L were added by Dell to store recovery information.

I can backup D & L in the same backup and all goes well. I try to backup C and it says "no recognizable NTFS file system found". I am backing up with standard compression, no verification, return error messages.....I was worried about not having any backup so I un-installed Ghost 14. I re-installed Ghost 12

and ran all backups without a problem.

Something is very different in Ghost 14? Taking the exact steps in Ghost 12 works perfect.

I am running Windows XP Pro with sp2, I have RAID 0 Intel software controller and the a second hard drive...both are Western Digital and approximately 60% full on 150gb disks.

My external hard drive (G) is a Free Agent drive and is 250gb.

I had done a on-line chat with Symantec but nothing ever got solved with Ghost 14. The associate had me disable several of my media slots that were installed as removable drives by Dell. Then he was gone and I did not re-connect.

My Ghost 14 is a download.....if that matters

I am frustrated as to why 12 works and 14 won't

Hi georgem and Tony Weiss,

georgem you have an "Intel software controller". Is that the same as "Intel Matrix Storage Manager"?

I had the same kind of difficulties long ago with Norton Save&Restore v1.0.

When using the Intel driver instead of the driver on the recover CD it worked for me.

I found this to be a security feature, so that not allowed backup and recovery can not take place, without knowing the exact steps and using the correct drivers.

The answer you get when trying to do a backup, "no recognizable NTFS file system found", is just this.

I will have to recover to a date back in time where my system is a XP SP2. At the moment it is Vista Ultimate.

Will do this recovery when you Tony Weiss says, it needs do be done.

Kurt

anyone?

Hi georgem,

Have you used LiveUpdate?

There are updates for Ghost 14 that may solve this.

It is worth a try.

Open the main Window of Ghost 14 and go to "Help" and after that

select "Run LiveUpdate....".

This will open a manual run of LiveUpdate.

I am waiting for your answer with the result of this updating.

 Kurt

I ran live update when I first installed the program.

I had the problems and ran live update again.....the second time it said I had all the latest updates already

Hi georgem,

Please try to repair Ghost 14.

1. Go to Controlpanel-program install/uninstall.

2. Right click Ghost 14 and select "change".

3. A new window will open with an installer.

4. Start the installer that will go through YOUR installation and correct it to the functioning version.

I am waiting for your answer and the results of this repair of your Ghost 14 installation

Hi georgem,

How exactly are you performing the backup? Are you performing a Disk Copy? Creating a Recovery Point Set job for it? At which point during the process are you receiving this message? Are there any error codes or other messages you receive? If you're able to post some screenshots, that would also be helpful in determining the cause of the problem.

Problem solved for now.

I un-installed Ghost 14, re-installed Ghost 12, and ran all backups with no problems.

I knew there was a solution!
