Hi, I'm new to this forum so am not sure of the protocols. I am having problems with Identity Safe in NIS2009. I had NIS 2008 on both my computers and all worked perfectly. I have just upgraded to NIS2009 and chaos, passwords and user IDs are mixed up, also where there is a 3rd input i.e. a random security question it saves this and later places it as your User ID. If there's a URL that contains uppercase letters it saves it all in Lower case and therefore cannot connect to that site. Is anyone else experiencing these problems?? Had no help from Symantec live chat.
Sorry to hear about these problems. We'll try to identify the cause so we can resolve them. Regarding the usernames and passwords being mixed up, could you describe exactly what you're seeing? I'd like to know if you're seeing usernames filled into password fields of web pages, passwords filled into username fields, passwords appearing in the username section of the Manage Log-Ins dialog, the username appearing when you click the "show password" link in the Manage Log-Ins dialog, or some combination of the above. It would be useful to know the URL for one or more of the sites where the username & password are switched.
UPDATE: I have confirmed that the URLs are set to lower case when logins are saved. Since URL paths are often case sensitive, this is something that we'll need to fix. We are currently reviewing ways to fix this.
I'd like you to know how much we users appreciate getting straightforward feedback like this telling us when something actually is wrong!
Symantec is setting a terrific example by doing this!
It certainly makes a refreshing change! More companies should do this instead of always claiming that anything that goes wrong or doesn't work as expected is the user's fault.
To me, this shows that we're actually listened to and that gives me more confidence in the company than I already had anyway.
Hi jlatino0 thanks for your reply. I had forwarded the URLs of the sites where the problems occurred to Symantec via the Help and Support page as they requested. I have just received the new update (16.2) and it seems to have solved the problem of the mixed up user and password fills but unfortunately the saving of URLs in lower case still remains. Will keep checking for updates to see if a solution has been found. Thanks again, its nice to know someone is listening.
