Still problem d\l it same problem here too

I'm having a similar problem by I have an older version of Norton Antivius. I think it's 2008 or something. But it worked fine until 10/23/11. Now whenever I try to run LiveUpdate they fail. As soon as it moves to download updates, it  gets the greencheck like it worked, although there is no way it could have downloaded anything in 1 second. It then fails during the proccessing portion. I contacted Symantec but haven't heard back.

Thanks, Tony, for checking in.  Just wanted to mention again that this is happening with NIS 2011 as well as 2012 (and based on another poster, earlier versions as well).  I was able to manually download and install virus definitions, but Activity Map Data is still failing.

I am having this problem with LiveUpdate in NIS 2012 as well. Glad to see that Symantec is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.

Upon running LiveUpdate, the following updates fail to complete:

1.  Norton 2012 Smart Virus Definitions

2.  Norton Activity Map Data

The update criticality for both is "Recommended"

Hello All

The problem seems to be fixed now. I ran live update and the activity map update completed successfully along with 2 other updates. This was about 10 or  15 minutes ago. The problem affected NIS 2011 also, but seems to be fixed now. Thanks.

Now updating properly.

Hi everyone,

The issue has been fixed now. You should not face problems in using LiveUpdate. But please do let us know if you still have trouble.

Mine is working now as well.

Thanks, Symantec for being on top of this.

Shouldn't this thread now be marked "As Solved".......Gorpy1

Hello GORPHY1

Yes, it should be marked as solved, but it is up to the original poster who opened up the thread to mark it as solved. Thanks.

Great!

This situation is now resolved. :smileyvery-happy:

I use NIS 2011

Interestingly enouh I never received the error message that others are reporting, But I laso did  not receive smart defs until very late.

I did hoever receive activity map updates several times during the day on Sunday

Wonder if only NIS2012 received the eroor messages?

Now of course I haven't yet received and smart def updates for Monday yet

Hello Calls.

I am using NIS 2011 and I had the error messages also. This started around 8:30 PM  Eastern Daylight time in the USA..  If you are in the UK, then this wouldn't have happened over there until like 1:30 AM on Monday morning. Most likely, you slept thru the whole problem since it was fixed about 4 hours later. Also, it may not have affected all the servers around the world.

Yes it's fixed, but todayNAV2012 live update downloaded 80MB worth. Did not need restart and version number is unchanged. Perhaps it redownloaded the whole definition dadabase?? I had used the manual update yesterday.

PS I wanted to add a screenshot, but it will not accept png, jpg or bmp? what format do people post their screenshots (as on p2 of this thread foe example).

Either .jpg or .png will work, but you have to upload the image, rather than add it as a attachment to a post.  See Yaso_Kuuhl's excellent guide here:

Problems with intermittent live update failures seems to have returned.

I'll have to monitor for a few days to see if there is something chronic going on or just one of those random failures we can expect to see.

Best wishes.
