 Adding more info:
1.Norton Protection Center reports no errors of any kind
2.I noticed that this problem occurs between 17-19 Aug. when LiveUpdate picks updates and also pick update for LiveUpdate (don't remeber what kind update),but after this I noticed in Programs and Features that LiveUpdate appears as new installation on that day.
Now my version of LiveUpdate is 3.4.1.238 (this is for LUUPDATE.EXE)
3.System is regulary scaned and there is no viruses or malwares.
4.Operating system is Vista 32-bit SP1 with all security updates installed.UAC is turned OFF

I think this info is helpfull

Do you have any other security software installed what could be in the way?

Besides that what does it do when you just let it run for a day? Will it start updating

I don’t have any other sec. software installed.
I just did (yesterday-all day 26-Aug.,now when I’m writing this is 27-Aug. 10:30AM) to see what will happen and LiveUpdate did not update NIS.

The same with me. I have NIS 2008 ver. 15.5.0.23. I always had Live Update turn to On mode. A week ago it turned off automatically. I cannot turn to "On" mode. Not through control panel, nor settings, nor options. I put to On mode, but nothing happend, it stays in off mode. On the other hand, there is no problems with updating manualy. But I really want to be informed when new update are available and not checking manualy.

Any suggestions how to solve this? Thank you beforehand.

Is LiveUpdate on in your Norton Product?

I had an issue with LiveUpdate that it turned on automatically and, when I switched it to off, it would come straight back on again; the problem is now Fixed for the moment anyway.  Maybe symantec could comment on this...

No, the LiveUpdate is off at my NIS2008 and there is no response when I try to turn it on. I am trying through Options/NIS/LiveUpdate or settings or control panel/symantec liveupade - there is no response, it stays off???

Sudenly,LiveUpdate fixed from itself.I can't explain this, but before vhen LU prepairs to connect and notice me for updates it simply "destroy" setttings in Control Panel in LiveUpdate module.Settings was back to Express mode and resset "support mode" from enhanced to OFF.A couple checking/unchecking options and restarting and (I think) solved this problem...for now.I'm not sure yet

Hi Sarobi,

This can happen if the Automatic LiveUpdate service is disabled. Click on Start>run> In the Run  dialogue box, type services.msc and click on OK.

This will open the services window, find the Automatic LiveUpdate service in the services window.Check it's status if it is stopped or disabled, please Start it and then change it to Automatic.

Now try to turn on the Automatic LiveUpdate.

Hi Vineeth,

thank you for quick response. I have opened services window. Tab "Startup Type" was set to manual. I changed to automatic, but when I close the services window and open again, status is again "manual".

LiveUpdate is v. 3.4.1.232. Is this the latest version? PS: my OS is Vista Home Premium

I've checked up with my brother and sister (we have 3-licence NIS2008) and they don't have any trouble with Symantec LiveUpdate. But both have XP OS.

It must be something in relation to Vista/LiveUpdate? What do you think - is it worth to try uninstall/install NIS2008?

Is the Automatic LiveUpdate started ? Manual state is fine.

The latest version of LiveUpdate is 3.4 . If the issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall the Norton product by running the Norton Removal tool

Please take a backup of your Identity safe profile before uninstalling if you have any passwords saved.

Then use the LINK to install your Norton product and then activate it using your product key.

Vineeth, thank you for reminding me to back up identity safe. I uninstalled/installed NIS2008 and now is everything ok.

Latest LiveUpdate engine is 3.4.1.238

Moved to N360 board for better exposure
