Hello,
For almost two weeks I've been experiencing problems downloading mail to Oulook (2003); I've never experienced any problems whatsoever before. Only the first message waiting downloads, any other waiting messages do not.
The first time I realised there was a problem was when a little NIS window rolled onto my screen saying there was an e-mail error. I checked this under 'Recent History' and it gave error 421. It was from this point forward that e-mails could not be downloaded to Outlook.
During 'send/receive' in Outlook, under the progress window, I got the following error messages on different occasions. These are as follows:
- Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90): Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responds ????????????'
- Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90): Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: '-ERR inactivity timeout'
- Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90): Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)
I increased the time-out length, deleted and then recreated e-mail my accounts and much more to no avail.
Initially, I thought it was a problem with my ISP but then, after going round in circles, I discovered that when I turn off 'email protection' within NIS, which is NOT ideal and very inconvenient, my e-mails came flying into my inbox without a hitch.
I'm trying everything to fix this myself but essentially I'm clutching at straws in a very dark place without a flashlight and need help.
I've unchecked and re-checked the boxes (Outlook, Outlook Express, address books etc..) under NIS Client Integration, hoping this will get NIS to do something to correct the problem but nothing is working.
The ONLY thing that works is, as I said, turning off 'email protection' under NIS Advanced settings and iit is only then that all waiting e-mails download - and fast.
If someone could PLEASE HELP ME resolve this I would be so grateful. (I am using NIS 2012)
