First I just installed Norton Utilities and am very unhappy.
Without any warning, the default privacy setting automatically wiped out all my passwords. That should NOT be the default setting or else there should be a warning.
While I've figured out from this forum how to prevent it happening again, it also it screwed up Chrome, which now opens with a message that it can't read the default profile. Anyone know how to fix it?
Here is the message I get:

I had already unselected the browsers based on similar responses in this forum, but that was after I ran the program.
I thought it was ridiculous, however, that Norton Utilities set the default to eliminate passwords without any warning.
Either a warning should have shown up the first time it was run, or the default privacy setting should have been NOT to eliminate passwords. It's not expected behavior.
I'm running Window7 64 bit home premium along with the new version of Internet Security 12, and the latest version of Chrome (15.0.873.121) but the problem with Chrome according to this forum is occurring in other versions of Norton Utilities as well. Just search on Chrome and it comes up. (I started a separate post because it was that and other problems).
The only good news is I eventually fixed Chrome by saving my bookmarks, uninstalling Chrome (but saving the Chrome files -- you get a choice to save Chrome files if you uninstall it), rebooting and reinstalling Chrome.
Chrome won't reinstall unless you reboot (it didnt work even when I logged off) but the reinstall picked up the old bookmarks automatically.
I then had to reinput every one of my passwords in chrome, and in firefox and for the few sites I go to in IE.
It's not the experience I'd expect from a utility that is supposed to make my computer better
Unfortunately that is how the product is designed. I will pass this along to the team as something that needs to be looked at in the next version of NU.
