NIS 17.8.0.5
Vista OS with Vista SP 2
On Tuesday 6/21/11 I came home from work. My PC is left on basically 24/7
I opened the NIS panel (you know the thing that shows your security status and allows you to run quick scans, etc)
from the icon tray at the bottom of the screen
Everything had green check marks and all showed secure.
But I noticed that where it said "run live update", the last one was 3 hours ago. Thats rather unusual since it will run every 10 minutes or so. I manually ran run live update and reading came back that I was up to date, but it stilled showed 3 hours since last update. So I waited about 20 mins and ran live update again. this time I received a pulse update.
However, next to run live update, the last update time was still 3 hours ago. Always, when I get a pulse update, the time will reset such as saying 1 minute ago for example.
So this was concerning me a bit, so from the NIS panel, I clicked run quick scan.
However, no quick scan started. I tried this several times and no quick started.
Then I becam really concerned. Everything showed secure.
I also had some difficulty looking at history.
So I decided to reboot my computer. After rebooting everything appeared normal. I was able to run the quick scan which came up clean. The time count next to "run live update" was working as normal.
To make sure all was ok, I even Clicked on help and support and ran a check and no problems noted. I looked at history and noting was noted as far as intrusion attempts or any other malicious activity.
So my question is was my NIS compromised?
or
Was this just some kind of glitch with the NIS user panel, where it wasn't functioning right and rebooting knocked it back to normal?
