One would think this would be easy, but it's apparently not.
What product do I have?
I hover the mouse pointer over the green on yellow icon in the System Tray and the bubble says, "Norton Internet Security". Hmm.
Then I select Start | All Programs and see "Norton Internet Security". Hmm.
So then I select that "Norton Internet Security" and see these programs; "Norton Internet Security", "Live Update", "Support" and "Uninstall Norton Internet Security". Hmm
Ok. I then decide to double click on the green on yellow icon in the System Tray. The program is displayed and I see "Norton Internet Security" in the upper left hand corner. I click on "Help & Support" and then "About". I see "Norton Internet Security" and the version is 16.5.0.134.
I see the "Copyright (c) 1997-2008 Symantec Corporation", but that should never be the true test of product identification.
Just on the chance, I clicked on "Subscription Status". Nope. Just confirmed the days remaining.
Then I saw "abhay_kulkarni" post for "NAV/NIS 2009.5 Patch Update". There, the person has posted a screen capture with the same decimal compile/build number as my version. From that I could assume I am using 2009.
Why is this so important? The "Norton Update Center" web form asks for the Year as a version and not decimal build/compile number.
So what product do I have? 2007? 2008? 2009? It's probably not 2007.
Why is this effort required just identify what product I am using?!
Why can't the production just say it?!
More importantly, what product am I using?
