Product key problems

Hi,

I got  new HP laptop for Christmas,  My family had 2 yrs. Norton IS 2011 included  for me.  When I opened the pc, there was no product key included but the 90 day free trial was already installed.  I wasn't sure that the Norton incl. with new pc would not just kick in when the trial ran out.  It did not.  I contacted HP and it took them 5 wks. and much frustration to get a new product key.  They sent me a letter with the 25 char key but it said it was for Norton anitvirus.  In the meantime I had put avast on my pc.  First, I tried to install the antivirus, since that is what it said in the letter from HP.  When I enter the key, and click Next--nothing happens.  I tried many, many times.  So, then I thought that I would try the Internet Security, since that is what was on the customer packing slip and what I paid for....same thing--nothing happens after entering the key--again, tried many times.  I finally called HP--the letter said if I had any more problems--please call them.  I did and they said it was not their problem but I had to get in touch with Norton.  I have tried Nathan many times and nothing works!  Can anyone help me, or tell me how to get in touch with them  to help me?  I paid for 2 yrs. that I cannot access!  HP's customer service needs a lot of help---I am very unhappy with them- and I have been a long time HP customer--Please, Norton, help me?  My new pc has windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
