Product Key Won't Work

I bought NIS 2012, and have the box and CD.  I'm trying to install it on my PC.  At the first screen it asks that I type in the product key.  I have the product key, which is 32 alpha-numeric characters in groups of 4 separated by dashes.  The first thing I notice is that when I try to type it in, it doesn't show all the characters.  Some of them just don't appear when I type them.  for instance none of the "E"s will show up.  So I end up with only most of the characters I typed showing in the box.

Then I tried typing the product key into a text editor (notepad++) and copyting and pasting.  I tried it both with and without the dashes.  In both cases the text looks the same as when I type it into the box directly.  Most of the characters are there, but many are not.

The red X at the right side of the box is inactive - or doesn't do anything that I can observe.

The "Agree & Install" never activates.

I have Win7 64 bit installed.

Any ideas?  I've seen a few posts with this problem, but I've never seen the thread complete with a solution.

Hi

   The Agree & Install will get enabled only if you type in the Correct Product Key.

Try using the On-Screen Keyboard:

Start -> All Programs/Programs -> Accessories -> Accessibility/Ease of Access -> On Screen Keyboard

The Product Key for NIS 2012 will be a 25-character key (five groups of five characters, each) and will start with the letter "J."  It sounds like you are not entering the correct key.

OMG!  Thank you.  I was entering the product key for Norton Utiliities which is packaged with my NIS 2012.  Doh!

Don't feel bad - it happens all the time with these bundled sets.
