It was the compatibility patch for Firefox 6. It wasn't big enough to warrant a change in version number, but it did require a reboot.

The version # did not change becuse of the firefox toolbar update  late yesterday   it was a small update to fix  the toolbar issue with the firefox update to version 6.0.

It is the Firefox 6 compatibility patch. It has been released via LiveUpdate, and you will prompted to restart the computer after receiving the update. It is not a new inline for the 2011 version, and so your version number does not change. You can find more information about it here:

Many thanks for that information.

Not that it matters but I don't have Firefox and use IE.  I did see the "pinned" information about the Firefox patch but didn't connect it with the "NIS Product Update" download.

imbart,

I don't use FF either but I got the Engine Update ..... but I didn't get a request to restart the computer, although this was yesterday and I have restarted now ...

Maybe not having FF is detected and the restart is not called for ....

Hello Hugh

I don't use FireFox either. I didn't get the request to reboot in the form of a notice. I  did see it though when I looked at the listing of live updates that had been done and it said reboot was necessary. I guess though since it wasn't really necessary for us, there was reallly no hurry to reboot. I rebooted any way though.

Flo,

<< . I  did see it though when I looked at the listing of live updates that had been done and it said reboot was necessary. >>

Was this in the Details when it had finished "processing"?

I was not around when mine did the Live Update (mine was not manual) so I looked in History about 20 minutes later and there Engine Update was listed but nothing about needing to restart.

Hello Hugh

This was in the list of live updates. I like to click thru the list and then on more details and looked at advanced details.. I then saw that one of the updates said under reboot required----yes. You can click on the little + and you can see the list of updates that were done for that update. It  only shows like 4 pages of updates, so you can't look too far back  considering how many times updates come thru.

Then we both looked in the same place because that's what I did including expanding with the (+) and it definitely did not say anything about a restart .... anywhere.

If I could have copied it to the clipboard I would have done so;  I could have made an image -- I'll go back and look and see if it is still there

CORRECTION -- I've looked again and it does say Restart needed ..... but in that separate box and not against the item which is where I am used to seeing it when I click on Details after a manual LUD ....

Vielen Dank.

Hallo legerdemain!

MfG
