Profile data is wrong

I looked at my profile today and noticed this;

Browser used for Last Visit

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/30.0.1599.66 Safari/537.36

I have never used Mozilla, AppleWebKit, or Gecko.

I use mostly Google Chrome and rarely Internet Explorer (7, I think).

How did the bad information get created and how do I or how does Norton/Symantec fix it?

Hi longcaster,

The profile information is actually correct and does identify your browser, just not in a way that you might expect.  What you are seeing is the User Agent String for the Chrome browser version you are using.  The User Agent String identifies the browser to the website and essentially tells the site that your browser is compatible with content designed to work with those other browsers and web content applications.  Even Internet Explorer will appear as "Mozilla" because, early on, IE needed to let sites know that it would work with content developed for the Netscape browser, which identified itself to websites as "Mozilla."  The naming conventions stuck.

SOJ, I learned something new again today. Thanks

You're welcome.
