Program Control Resets by Itself Sporadically on Three Separate Computers

I posted this on the issue thread but I’m posting it here too.

Since July’s update of Norton, every now and again, the program control in Smart Firewall resets all the rules made or allowed in Program Control.

It initially to me seemed to happen immediately after or several hours after a wifi router reboot but last week when Norton update to 26.8, it reset itself again. It resets or is triggered by a restart or log in to the computer and I noticed last night before it happened that the program control rules were completely wiped out before a restart before repopulating after a restart. This has happened on three computers over the past 4 weeks several times - at least once a week or every other week. Note, I set my wifi network to public so my devices don’t communicate. When this reset happens, I get walls and walls of Rules Windows Networking in Public Blocked UDP 17 and this is only fixed after I either reset the firewall or reset to default on Norton. This seems set off by System because when this happens if I check the security logs I see rules were automatically created for system log. This, none of this, has ever EVER happened until exactly the day of Norton’s July version update.

All three computers are Windows 11, (2 being 25h2, 1 being 23h2) and it started with Norton’s update in July. Literally two hours after it updated. And again, it immediately did it on one computer after updating to 26.8 last week.

I noticed this last night. I opened up my smart firewall and checked program control to see everything was gone, then when I restarted the computer, I noticed programs repopulating program control in security logs. I think this is connected to my issue of Norton resetting Program Control at least once a week or every other week on all THREE of my computers. It’s definitely Norton because it immediately did it when Norton updated to 26.8 last week and had to be restarted.

UPDATE:

It now happens every few days. It happens during a restart or when I log in. Its set off by a log in security - rules were automatically made for system. It then completely resets the program control in smart firewall.

I get walls of rule windows networking in public blocked. Seems to point to communication with router. This began with update 26.6 in July on all three computers.

You are not aware unless you check the security logs or notice the internet connection lag.

Pretty sure its all related to the hosts file and all this ai stuff.

Norton has not been the same since the hosts file add ons in July that caused all those false positives.

I shouldnt have to reset norton every 5 to 7 days across 3 computers.
