Proof that my Devise is free of viruses

Hello. I have a quick question. I recently fell for an online fraud trap. That was obviously before I installed Norton. The problem is my bank now wants to have proof that my mobile phone isn’t infected with a virus or that the people that tricked me installed a malware so that I can get new passwords and all that.

Is it possible to actually scan my phone for that and have proof that it’s clean? I mean Norton probably would have alerted me if I had something like that but I just installed the app today so I’m not familiar with it.

For information I have an iPhone 15 and I know that they are like really secure but my bank still wants proof. So I’m at a loss here. I don’t really know what to do.

I have the Norton 360 Advanced Abo.

I’m thankful for any help.

Why not reset your phone to factory settings? Would that appease your bank?

I mean I would have to ask them. but if I do reset my phone to factory settings and then log in again with my Apple ID wouldn’t that be like installing the malware again? Like if there actually is something.

The malware would be wiped out by the reset.

They also wanted me to basically contact an IT firm and have actual proof. I don’t know if just resetting it and then basically installing everything again would be enough for them. Like isn’t that the same as just shutting your phone down and then restarting it. I mean with my Apple ID I would install everything again.

At this point I’m just rambling. sorry

Oh. Are you sure? Then I would definitely just ask the Bank. Thank you

Reset to factory should wipe the drive clean and install original apps.

You would have to check with the bank to see if they need proof that there was malware on your device. You would have no way to prove that if you do a reset on the device.

Ask the bank what scanner you can use on an iPhone. Point them to this HowtoGeek article on the built in security for iOS.

They basically just told me to contact an IT firm and get verification that my phone is clean. They need it in writing. When I asked them what firm I should contact they told me that they don’t have any recommendations. So they basically have no clue either.

On the apple site some people told me to go to an Apple Store and go to the „Genius Bar“. It basically scans your phone for free. At least that’s what I was told. I think I’m gonna try that and see how it goes with the bank.

Thank you for the help.

AI Overview
Apple Genius Bar does not offer malware scanning or removal services. They will typically restore your device to factory settings, effectively wiping all data and software. While Apple does have built-in security measures like Gatekeeper and Notarization which scan for malware, they don’t offer a specific service to scan for and remove existing malware after a device is already infected.

  • Factory Reset:
The most common solution offered by the Genius Bar for suspected malware infections is a factory reset. This erases all data and software on the device and reinstalls the operating system, effectively removing any potential malware.

  • Apple’s Security Features:
Apple has security features built into its operating systems, such as Gatekeeper and Notarization, which help prevent the installation of malicious software.

  • Notarization
This process involves Apple scanning apps for malware before they are allowed to be distributed outside the App Store.

  • Gatekeeper
This feature helps prevent the installation of untrusted software, ensuring that only apps that have been verified by Apple can be run on a device.

  • No Dedicated Malware Removal Service:
While Apple has security measures in place, they do not offer a dedicated service for scanning and removing existing malware from a device.
