After exiting Prop Hunt (a game mode of Garry's Mod from Steam), I get MalwareBytes reporting the following two IP addresses as being blocked.
1) 188.165.2.12
2) 198.27.64.67
This happens pretty much every time I play the game. I have downloaded many maps/textures/taunts from Steam so I don't know how to isolate the problem.
I was sent here (http://www.symantec.com/security_response/) to report the problem from Symantec chat, but I couldn't find where to report the problem. That is the purpose of this post.
I wanted to report the problem to Norton in case they might want to look into the issue as well. Why doesn't 360 have issues with those websites or with hl2 trying to access those websites?
Quads is right. I'm a member over there (MBAM Forum). It's a very good source of info for MBAM and new threats detected, a lot of good stuff there.
One example of the benefits of that forum, is what happened earlier this week regarding the same topic, an IP blocking message appearing in the System Tray.
Another user started a thread about it and one of the MBAM staff members posted promptly explaining that the problem was caused by a bad live update from MBAM which they fixed fast but it did get mention at their forum.
I saw it happen on my PC's at home. I was seeing a "blocked IP" popup every couple of minutes and looked up the IP address with "netstat" (CMD tool) and "TCPview" (another cool freeware tool from "Sysinternals").
It traced back to "Palo Alto" in Calif. I knew what it was before looking at the info at "IP Tracker" site. It was originating from Google . I was beginning to get "NSA Spy" ideas at that point
Actually, it was interesting to me, using the tools to trace that IP.
