Protected or Unprotected - Confused ?

Hi,

Please can someone put my mind at rest - As the title says i'm confused-

Scenario......

I'm using Norton 2011 Internet security, and wish to let a family member (who lives in another town) have connection access to my Pc network (mostly to play games).I have configured the 'Trust Control' settings to his IP address, now my question is-

It is configured as 'Protected',but does this mean he cannot connect to my PC network as my PC is 'Protected' ?,or does it mean......

my Pc is 'Protected' from any 'nasties' coming down the line from his Pc, and he should be able to connect normally.

I feel so stupid for asking this question, but I cant seem to settle on what it means 'Protected'-

Thanks for any input-it would be appreciated,
