Protection question

I use NAV2008 on a desk top Vista Home Premium Vista Service pack 1.

I have DSL set up and no router other than the DSL box (which I'm told does NOT have a router)

My comp is on basically 24/7

I have two accounts- Admin and then a limited user.99.9% of the time I long in using the limited user account. I was told that it was safer to be on the internet that way

I have my set up to automatically look for microsoft updates and that the microsoft important/critical updates automatically download

Now usually when there are microsoft updates, my machine requires a re-start.

so when my machine restarts- there is the option on what account to log in on. So if the updates happen overnight and my machine restarts, when I get up my screen shows both the admin log in option and the limited user log in option

So my questions-

1. while neither of the accounts are logged in, is NAV2008 still active and protecting my machine and internet connection??

2.Or do I need to be logged in via one of those accounts for the protection to  be effective?
