Protection Updates - Loop "Not Fixed: sort it our NOW please!

How many posts and stories do we have to read in here before this problem is actually fixed? I have been using Norton products for over 9 years now and when a problem arises with their products they are never around to offer clean cut realistic assistance. I ALWAYS have to spend a few hours on the web searching and Googling answers to my problems and this is the only way I am able to fix my own issues. All they do is throw their hands up in the air and say, "Uninstall, uninstall, uninstall". NOT GOOD ENOUGH Norton!

I am using Norton Internet Security 2009 - V 16.2.0.7 on a XP Home Desktop. My issue is as follows:

1. Red X on the taskbar icon with intermitant alert box stating- "Your Norton Virus Definitions are out-of-date..."

2. I open my product and click on the "Fix Now" button. Norton Live Update Runs and the "Fix Now" box runs in the background.

3. The Live Updater states, "No updates found. Your  Norton product has the latest protection updates" The Table below outlines -  Check for updates = "Completed", Download Updates = "Not Required" and Process Updates = "Not Required"

4. Fix Now box states, "Fix not complete" The Table below states - Protection Updates "Not Fixed"

I have read solutions about Build 16.1. This should not be relevant because I have Build 16.2!

I have read solutions about deleting the virusdefs files and that has not worked!

I have read and followed a vast number of solutions through the "Help and Support" tab on my product and NONE of them have worked!

I have NOT yet uninstalled and then re-installed (again) my NIP09 product. I shouldn't have to. I have already done that twice before due to the frustrating issues that have occurred in the past or because the Norton team have no idea what to do.

Myself and a large number of people in this forum have spent a great deal of money over a number of years on your products. SURELY it is not too much to ask to have matters such as this resolved more freely without customers having to do all the hard work to find solutions. It is a joke!

Resolve the issue and for God's sake give us a response that is not simply guess work on Nortons behalf!

Very very annoyed.
