Proxy settings? Insight network trouble

I installed NIS 2010 on 5 computers, 4 of them running XP (1 desktop, 1 laptop, 2 netbooks) and 1 desktop running Vista.  On 4 of the 5, no problems at all.  On the laptop, the Insight Network page is unable to connect and, after trying for a minute, says I’m off-line.  Consequently, no “community usage” data appears on the Insight page.  The computer is clearly connected to the Internet, and Norton is able to download updates.

Restarting didn’t help, so I uninstalled NIS and began to reinstall.  As last time, a screen appeared that said proxy settings were detected on the computer (address:  127.0.0.1; no port given) and asked whether to use these or not.  I don’t remember ever setting these but I can’t swear that I (or some program I use) didn’t. I do know that (1) this laptop connects to the Internet via a wireless router, but (2) the proxy screen didn’t appear during installation of any of the other computers that connect the same way.

Could this proxy business be related to Norton’s inability get the Insight info, or would a proxy problem have prevented it from connecting at all?  How should I respond to the proxy query?  And if the proxy settings aren’t to blame, what else on this particular computer might be interfering with downloading the Insight data?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide with all these questions.
