PST files getting skipped with "automatic" backup

Backed up the pst file fine first time when Outlook 2003 was closed, but has skipped every time since.  It's supposed to support open email files, isn't it?  Schedule setting is set to automatic.  OS is Win XP.

It listed all the email file types it supports for backup as: 

The email category includes the most common email file types, including, but not limited to the following file types:

  • Microsoft Outlook Personal Folder files (.pst)

  • Microsoft Exchange Mail messages (.msg)

  • Microsoft Outlook Express email or Windows Mail (.dbx)

  • Microsoft Outlook Express email (.eml)

  • Microsoft Outlook Rules Wizard files (.rwz)

  • Microsoft Message Store (.MsMessageStore)

  • Netscape Mail email message files (.snm)

  • Media Stream Broadcast (.msb)

  • Mailbox Message files (.mbx)

  • First Reader Saved Message folder (.fol)



    I assumed based on that list, that it could back up my email even if Outlook was open.  Open file backup is a common feature in backup products and Mozy (which I am still using but looking to move off of) can handle open files.  I guess I'm off to look for another alternative then.
