Purging Backup History of (now) non-existent File and Folder backups

My backup history (Advanced tab) goes back to November 2008 when I installed Ghost.

I removed the File and Folder backup task, then (since it didn't do the job) manually deleted the file and folder backups. That didn't update the backup history which continues to show file and folder from Nov. 2008.

I saw Ghost 15 question about backup history and did make a feeble attempt to try it. Since I don't have a task for file and folder I was surprised when I went down through the directories and found the DAT file and was able to rename it no sweat even though I didn't stop Ghost services. I tried to then do an import from the empty file and folder directory and got 1) an error message saying nothing to import and 2) a new DAT file (much smaller). Backup history was unaffected. I noticed that the recommended procedure in the Ghost 15 thread didn't seem to work (or so it seemed) either.

I browsed around some more and found that one level up and back down into Norton Ghost directory and then down into History, I found a file --> filefolder.ffh (whose modified date was the current one). I didn't touch it. I do wonder if the now deleted file folder backups are in that file which is what Ghost is showing me when I go to the Advanced Tab and click on Backup History?

Is the fact that I did not stop Ghost service prior to the rename of the DAT file and attempted import mean that filefolder.ffh (assuming I am correct that it contains the history I want to get rid of) didn't get updated?

BTW, this is not a huge issue with me so I won't go as far as, say, uninstalling ghost then reinstalling it. I would like to purge the unnecessary entries in the backup history.

Thanks.
