quarantined file submission process

hello.

while running mbam full scan, an executable was flagged by NIS2010 as a trojan horse and was quarantined and "removed" from the original folder.

a yahoo search of the file returned 5 hits, several in different foreign languages.

one hit, in particular, reported 5 out of 36 malware scans identified malicious elements in the file.  this page was dated late spring of 2008.  i acquired the program and this file at the end of that year.  i subsequently ran the program under the auspices of NIS2009 with seemingly no ill effect.

the program and file had been dormant since then and survived numerous full scans from NIS 2009, NIS 2010 and mbam under vista.  since the switch to win 7, this is the first mbam full scan, and with the latest mbam version.

i submitted the file manually to symantec.  now what?  i searched help in the main control panel.  it didn't get into the now what(?) scenario.  i searched this forum for "file submission".    from what little i can gather, emails are involved.

am i understanding this covert process accurately?  should i restore the file anyway and run NIS full scan?  or should i wait until the emails say whatever needs be said, however long that may take?

on a side issue, i was of the belief that mbam on-demand and NIS played nicely together.  as every mbam quick scan triggers a medium risk recorded by NIS, and now this event, my belief is shaken.
