Question about NIS and ESET

I run both side by side, one of them with the antivirus features turned off but both with the firewall switched on. I haven't noticed anything weird but wonder whether I should turn any firewall feature on any of them to avoid issues. Thanks.

Hi kindle!

The problem is, running TWO antivirus-programs - regardless of operating system - with real-time protection is a big no-no. Only one real-time antivirus suite can be run on one computer. Briefly: you are going to have to remove one of your antivirus programs: either NIS or ESET.

If you search around this forum about running two real-time antivirus-programs on one machine, you'll see that it is very strongly recommended NOT to do so.

The two programs' features, instead of doubling the strength of your computer, will interfere with each other and weaken the strength of your anti-malware protection. Even if you turn off the features of one, the program is still actively running on your computer.

Hope this helps :-)

I have one AV turned off, both firewalls on.

Hi kindle,

You should never have two firewalls running at the same time, just like you should never have two antivirus features running at the same time. As mentioned before: they will get in each other’s way. Even if you turn off all the features of one anitivirus program (in which case it is no use keeping it and thus best to remove it altogether), it is still running live in the background and will interfere with the other antivirus program. Please ensure that you have one, and only one, antivirus program running with antivirus, firewall and internet protection turned on. Kindly get rid of the other program
