Okay - Is this a bug, a beta anomaly, or the intended "new way" of renewing NS product activations?
I noticed that the days remaining counter on my NS test system went all the way down to "Expired" this morning without offering any option to renew the subscription with a new activation key.
The previous NS beta that had been installed prior to the current .91 release (that was installed via LiveUpdate Patch) did offer the renewal method most Norton product users are familiar with and have become accustomed to. This time however (with the .91 version,) I was forced to go through the Beta Center and download and run the NS product downloader again - which (of course) had nothing to do really other than to inform me that the .91 NS Product Installer was already present within the Norton Public Downloads folder and provide a link to that folder (containing the installer)...
A) I then had to -
1) Run the (previous and already present) NS product installer which proceeded to...
a) Save the current product's user customizations;
b) Uninstall the current (and otherwise viable) NS .91 product installation;
c) Then it wanted the system restarted.
d) But it did not continue with the installation after the restart...
B) I next had to -
1) Find the installer in the public download folder (again);
2) Initiate it manually to perform the reinstallation;
3) After which it wanted the account credentials re-entered;
4) Then it stated there was no subscription;
5) Then and only then did it finally present a link to a page to enter the new activation key...
I truly hope you don't expect all users (from this point forward) needing to go through all this just to enter a new activation key? If you do, please explain why?
Regards,
John
