Guys this is not a bash Quads thread...you want to do that, PM him then he can ignore you, don't display it on the forum.
Hey we are all different in how we communicate and deal with people.Mr Q has helped me in the past and I am grateful for that help.I am sorry for being curious now about this deal cabby thing.Sorry Dick and Sorry Quads.
User probably can't work out the thread had been answer, that is all (like users who can't follow instructions or go their own way)
Question:
I think I've been infected
Something called Deal Cabby is present
How do I get rid of it?
Thanks
Dick
Win7x64 SP1 current NIS2013
Answer:
Thinking about it, may not have come in on its own.
But more than likely OTL, to find it in the BHO's and it's paths as well as after adwcleaner.

More info:
.............. I have looked into it and Adwcleaner won't deal with PUP.Dealcabby but does deal with it's friends. 2 OTL logs in one .txt file is attached showing DealCabby and Friends.

I just googled deal cabby.
At the very top of the results -- number 1 on the list -- is "dubya dubya dubya dot deal cabby dot com".
(I did that so no one will click on it.)
And it has a _green Norton site safety symbol_!
Why is that?
Because it is only a PUP, it is not considered Malware.
before having a go at Norton / Symantec (there are a couple of messages) users, go and figure out the difference between PUP's and malware.

Because DealCabby is a PUP, not malware, and the site itself is not malicious. The only issue I see is the possible misuse of the Norton logo which, when clicked, takes you to the Norton Safe Web rating page for the DealCabby site. That may be a trademark infringement.
There is also a link on the page to uninstallation instructions:
http://www.dealcabby.com/uninstall.php
By the way, your link is clickable.
I have placed a message in suggestions for Symantec to create a new grouping of PUP.********* (*****= name) and what Norton could ask if detected,
PUP's are Nothing compared to some Malware especially in combo with other Malware, If you think PUP's are bad (not just annoying) Gawd help you if you end up like RenegadePrue or Worse.
Notice even in the Online Scanner I user for systems you have to select for the scan to select PUP's
Click Advanced settings and select the following:
This is getting more like a Tech Outpost thread now.

What is a ‘PUP’? As a general reminder to all, please define what an acronym means when you first use it in your post. Here, the description ‘Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP)’ would have added clarity to the issue being discussed.
That said, though, it appears that Norton already has a ‘Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA)’ detection category. This detection should be determining the difference between PUPs and malware on behalf of the user and should consequently be managed through Norton’s ‘Low Risk’ interface. Given that, the issue at present appears to be that this ‘Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA)’ detection category is not being maintained and kept up-to-date, thus resulting in PUA problems for Norton end-users...
The PUA list is kept up to date, but the list itself is not extensive. The issue is that PUPs are, in most cases, basically legitimate software. DealCabby, for example, offers to find users good deals on products they are looking to buy. The user agrees in return to allow DealCabby to place ads in their browser, turn keywords in the browser into clickable ad links, and to track the websites that the user visits and the ads they click on. This is all clearly spelled out in the EULA.
Now, most people would probably find the targeted ads and the privacy issues enough to outweigh any benefit. And most would want to see if DealCabby delivers on its promises to find the best deals before installing the software. But, DealCabby is nevertheless a company that is offering a service that, in lieu of a fee, is provided in exchange for the user's consent to be tracked and to receive solicitations from DealCabby's supporting advertisers.
If a security program starts interfering with a company's business simply because the software, while not dangerous, might be Potentially Unwanted (not "clearly unwanted") by "most" users, that gets into a very sensitive area. So only the most egregious PUPs, engaging in obviously deceptive and potentially harmful practices are going to be flagged by most security products.
Stop PMing me, You are on your own, with what ever tools you are trying to use, for what ever reason.
I have said I have answered your question that its it done!!!! Even some Guru's don't get it, little wonder newbies have no idea
PUP = a young dog.

This thread has been marked as SOLVED.
You have replied an additional 6-7 times after this statement. Move on already. You said you're done... so leave it alone and stop bumping this thread unless your willing to provide further assistance, which in this case is clearly evident you are done. Further replies are rather unprofessional on your part and fastly losing all credibility and respect. If he is bothering you on private IM, put him on your ignore list or disable it. End of discussion.
What ever, you have no idea,
I am stating to stop the PM's for this
"unprofessional" hahahaha, no, I am telling to stop the PM's, but seeing as you have posted with your message, not realising what is going on, the it makes your message rather silly.
I don't care about respect or credibility from the users that talk nonsense, don't follow instructions, do their own thing, give abuse etc.
The ability I have with working out new and tough malware and the amount systems I have fixed from people who follow the rules etc. gives me all I need I am known all around the web.
Also people in the same area as me that I help and they help me with info on new malware, giving malware samples for use, and Norton doing things quickly. is all the respect or credibility I need.
In our large group, it is known that we all get flak, abuse, called all sorts, told we have no idea what we are doing from people that asked for help. Been told it's called the "Tall Poppy Syndrome" So be it.
I say it with as it is with malware, If not following the rules, instructions etc. With the malware all is strict to due what has to happen to protect the system, but successfully repair / remove.
Don't like it, TOUGH, bet malware creators, wished the likes of myself weren't soo tough and good and removing even the combo infections.
Oh an I liked the user that tried to tell be they knew more about malware than me, but then asked what a Registry hive was.
I can't disable the PM system as I have connects for within Symantec and Good users that use the PM system.

Not really...
I'm posting publicly because you do not know how to use it. If you did understand how to use it , I would have "Private Messaged" you instead of posting a message publicy.... over and over just like you did. Oh well.
