I am using a wired network. After installing NIS 2012, the very first time I ran Network Security Map, it went through "initialization" and identified my PC as one entity, and my router as a 2nd entity. The PC icon had a green checkmark for "secure", and the router icon had a trust level of "protected". Number of items in the network was listed as "2". In other words, it discovered the router automatically. However, in NIS 2011, my router was never shown at all--only the PC.
A few minutes later when I looked at Network Security Map again, only the PC entry was there. The router icon was no longer showing up in the map. Number of items in the network was now listed as "1", and there were no items in trust control.
So I decided to start over with a new map and see if it would rediscover the router again. I went into Settings and "purged the map". I then relaunched Network Security Map, and it still only shows the PC. This time it did not discover the router at all for some reason. And number of network items is listed as "1".
So I am confused why the first time after initialization it showed the router added automatically to the map and listed the number of items as "2", but it no longer automatically discovers and displays the router. If the router is not supposed to show up (at least it didn't in NIS 2011), I'm curious why it did show up the first time I ran the security map.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
