question on norton messaging- confused

Hi, Im running Norton NIS 2011 and I have a question regarding messaging in the history section.

When I first log on it gives me this message in the history section:

-protecting your network to a newly detected network on adapter software loopback interface service 127

then

says what i think is, protecting my computer on a ipv6 address cause it has the fe long name

then says protecting my computer on my computer router address the typical 192.168

then has a message says protecting my computer on my ipv4 address with an ip address

intrusion prevention enabled

connected toa  protected network

connected to a protected nework

then has a message after that one that says

iP address has disappeared from WLAN mini card and is no longer being protected then lists the ipv4 address.

Why is it saying it has disappeared and no longer is being protected. Is it being cloaked or is it not really being protected? The Norton icon says secure and the messages are listed as info so I just want to understand what Norton is telling me here.

Also, since I recently reformmated and want to do a clean backup, do I need to turn norton off during this process or is that just if I am going to do a restore.

Thanks in advance!
