Questions about re-using licences on upgraded and new computers

Hi,

First off, sorry if these questions are answered elsewhere. I have looked through the forum and searched the net but can't find any answers.

I have a three licence subscription, originally to Norton Internet Security 2008, but now using the 2009 version. The subscription is to end in about 5 weeks. I am presently using two of my three licences, one on a desktop, one on a laptop. I am about to use up my third licence as I have been given an older computer that I plan to use as a home media and file server.

So, my questions are...

1. I am about to upgrade the hard drive in my existing desktop computer and I will take the opportunity to do a complete re-install to freshen things up a bit. As this will create a new hardware profile for the computer (the hard drive is the only thing changing), will Norton count the install as a new computer and use up another licence?

2.  Next month I am going to sell my existing laptop and replace it with a newer model. I will completely wipe the old laptop back to a factory install - hence completely removing Norton from it before the sale. Can I re-use the licence that was allocated to that laptop on my new one when I get it?

If anyone can help with answers I would be grateful as depending on the answers, I will either renew my existing subscription and use it on the three new or changed machines; or I will let that subscription lapse, and buy the product again, which would presumably provide me with a new licence key for the three machines. The first option would be the simplest if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

J.
