I am using Ghost 12 and I have a new machine I have set up.  Drives 0 and 1 are IDE basic drives.  C and D.

Drives E and F are SATA drives set up as IDE on the Promise 378 controller. They are not Raided.

When I use the Rescue disk I can only see the IDE basic drives C and D.  Drives E and F cannot be seen and that is where the back up is ?  The Promise Controller sees them when I am booting up as D0 and D1.

What can I do?  I need to see these two SATA drives.

I have been using Norton ghost 2003 for a few years, but had to move to another backup imaging program when I got my new machine. (It had a Sata Hard drive which I found out Norton ghost 2003 didn’t like) The other image backup program is now giving me troubles and would like to move back to Ghost. I went out and bought Norton ghost 12 (since it was cheap) and am wondering if Norton Ghost 12 detects Sata Hard Drives. Also I am wondering about the restore option of Norotn Ghost 12( Can I use a Norton ghost recovery disk if I want to restore my machine with the ghost image or does it only restore the image while the operating system is running? If I can use a recovery Disk will it detect my Sata Hard Drive?

Most possible cause is the missing drivers as you are using SATA to IDE converter. I suggest you to run Driver Validation Test from Norton Ghost CD to check if it contains all the drivers for your system, particularly the SATA controller. If it does not, create a new Custom Recovery Disk as suggested by Tony.

Read the article Creating a custom Symantec Recovery Disk in Norton Ghost 12.0 for help on this.

I checked the drivers and they appear to all be there.  I made a custom recovery disk, rebooted with it and I still only see the IDE C and D drives?  Thanks for trying.  Any other suggestions.

How do you have the SATA drives configured?  I know you say they are not RAID'ed, but are these set as JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks)?  When you created the customer recovery disk, did you add the Promise controller's drivers?

Norton Ghost 12 and 14 both support SATA drives, though depending on the drive, you may need to create a Customer Recovery Disk to ensure the drivers are on the disk. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!
