Hi everyone,

I use NIS 2009 + AOP on a Vista Premium 32 bit pc.

Sometimes when I run Quick Scan, the scan freeze up whe search for "tracking cookie". Is it impossible to stop the scan and I must reboot the pc.

How to solve?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

PS: excuse for my bad english. I'm Italian.

Update: When I tried to reboot, NIS closed itself and I cannot reboot the pc until I press the reset button.

I don't think that the problem is generated by a cookie, because I use Opera 9.27 and not Internet Explorer 7.

Are you able to open the Norton product now, we receive (8504,4) error when we are unable to open the Norton product. Please try running a full system scan and check whether it detects ant tracking cookies?

Have you tried those Solutions on that Web Page?

Does this freeze also happen with a Full System Scan?

Yes, the message is the same.

During a full system scan the problem not occour. But I have run only 2 full system scan in a week. Quick Scan have run 20+ times and only two executions caused the error.

What other security programs are you running?

Only Windows Defender. But I don’t think that this is the problem.

Please turn this off and let us know if this makes any difference.

You should only run one Security Product at any one time on your computer.

I have identified the circumstance of the error: when I connect and run liveUpdate, it download the virus definitions. If I run a quick scan immidiately after the liveupdate, the quick scan freeze.

At this point I think that when liveupdate upgrade virus defs it run a "stealth" quick scan. If I run a "visible" quick scan during this time, freeze.

Noo reason to run a quick scan when Norton does that all on its own.

Try this:
