QuickMenu has disappeared from my menu bar.
When I click on QuickMenu pref pane, system prefs crashes.
Is Norton Auto protect still working?
Anybody else having this problem?
Also, Quarantine lists no files, but files were added to Quarantine. Why aren't they showing up?
First, QuickMenu not appearing will not affect your protection. The protection of the computer is seperate from the user interface, so one will not affect the other.
As to why it does not appear, please check to see if you have any crash logs for SymUIAgent. You can do this by opening the Console application (Applications -> Utilities) and turning down the triangle next to ~/LibraryLogs. Next turn down the triangle next to CrashReporter. Then find any files that begin with SymUIAgent. If you find one, please copy and paste a portion of it here (a couple pages here, as much as the forum here will allow you to post).
Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,
I reinstalled Norton and all seems well, now.
What about the files being quarantined not showing up in the quarantine list (the list is empty).
Marty
Just out of curiousity, did you have a previous Norton/Symantec product installed before you installed your current product? If so, what product did you have, and what product did you install on top of it? The QuickMenu problem might have been due to an overinstall issue, and this might be causing the Quarantine problems as well.
If it's not an overinstall issue, I'll need to investigate some about the Quarantine problems. Just out of curiousity, how do you know files were added to the quarantine? Did you get a virus detection alert from Norton AntiVirus?
Thanks,
Ryan
I've been using NAV for many many years, so, yes, it was installed on top of an old version. However, I don't think this has anything to do with the problem because NAV v.11 had been in use for about a year before this incident. Plus, I think I may have done an uninstall before installing v.11.
As far as the Quarantine problem, yes, I've received messages telling me that something has been placed in quarantine, usually while I'm surfing websites. It happens so rarely that I have to look, out of curiosity, to see just what's been placed in quarantine. But when I look, there's nothing in there! I would say that this has happened at least two or three times in the past year. I generally ignore the problem and only brought it up because I was posting about the QuickMenu crashes.
Marty
Marty,
Could you please post the message you are receiving, either by taking a screenshot of it the next time you see it, or jotting down the text of the alert?
We had a problem in Norton AntiVirus a couple of months ago where it would display an alert suggesting that it had done something, when in fact it was just an error message. The alert has been corrected to display something more meaningful and the underlying problem has been corrected, but I am not sure it's the same alert you saw.
Thanks (and sorry it took so long),
Ryan
