I use the Gmail email client. Beginning the morning of 6/11/09 I began receiving notifications every few minutes that NIS had detected and blocked High Severity intrusion attempts by mail.google.com. This has continued ever since. It never happened before the 11th. Examining the reports reveals varying source addresses, but, according to the ARIN WHOIS data base search, they all belong to Google. (Examples are 74.125.127.18, 74.125.155.18 and 72.14.213.19.) A couple of posters at the Gmail help forum have had the same experience but no one knows why. Does anyone here know what could be triggering this? It sounds like false positives, but I would like to know how to stop it.
