I am receiving the same error along with the "blue screen of death" on my computer when trying to back-up with Ghost. A few weeks ago, I spent 3 or 4 hours with on-line tech support and the issue has not gone away. It has become less frequent, but is still present.
I have Windows Vista Business OS and Norton Ghost 12.0.3.24711. The latest update was installed on 5/31/08. As for steps, Norton Ghost runs automatically on my schedule. The issue seems to be mostly with the file & folder backup, as opposed to the full hard disk back-up.
Hello together,
I've often the same problem then Magid. Ghost 14 is installed on my Laptop and the Backup Destination Drive is a always connected external harddisk. While saving with the job my documents and folders the error occurs. Then I must restart Ghost (sometimes twice) until the backup was successfully. Has anybody an idea why this issue often occurs and the next day it runs without error. The backup job is a scheduled job.
Thanks and best Regards,
Joachim

Hello Joachim,
please try this:
Go to device manager search for your external hard disc drive, (under disc drives) –> rightclick your ext. hdd –> properties–> policies–> set up your drive for perfomance.
Attention to remove it in future you have to SAFELY REMOVE YOUR ext. HDD. !!!
These steps helped me in a similar problem.
Cheerio

Hello Lars,
I've made these settings you told me, and will see, what will happen tonight by the next scheduled backup.
Thanks for your help.
Kind Regards,
Joachim
Is the destination a network drive? Do you have VPN enabled, which is shutting down local networking? Any additional details about this issue are appreciated.
