Re-establishing Online Backup link after re-installing Norton 360 Premier Edition

I've been a happy Norton 360 customer for several years now.

 

I've had to re-install the application due to other issues. I've (re-)activated the product. I've run LiveUpdate to get back up to the current level of support.

 

I understand that I can re-establish the link with my existing Online Backup Set with the following process:

 

Go to Backup + Manage Backup Sets + "Where (Online)" tab + "Click here to activate your secure Online Storage" link

 

However I get the following results:

 

1) "Gathering data..." with cycling scrolling bar appears.

 

2a) "No response received from Symantec server".

 

blah-de-blah click here to check your proxy settting. blah-de-blah.

 

Clicking "here" as instructed verifies that Automatic Configuration + "Automatically detect settings" checkbox is checked.

 

2b) Norton Autofix runs. Failes with "Error: 8505,129" Hit "Close" button.

 

Hit "Retry" button on 2a) window above. Repeat steps 1) - 2).

 

The window at 2a) ends with "If there is still a problem, please try again later"

 

I suspect that nothing will change if nothing changes.

 

I've been able to accomplish this in the past.
