Re: NIS 2011 - stops install after initializing (Solution doesn't work for me)

RE: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/NIS-2011-stops-install-at-initialising/td-p/398864

I have a similar problem of failed reinstallation of NIS 2011, but the indicated solution doesn't work for me.  The 7th step in the solution is to "Restart your computer when prompted", however, my computer just hangs and never restarts.  Therefore, I can never get to the 8th step, "After restart, run the Norton Removal Tool"".

(NOTE: In order to get my computer running again, I had to unplug the power, take out and re-insert the battery, and restart the computer using the " last Windows settings that worked".  The CTL-ALT-DEL keys didn't work, since the computer was competely frozen when I tried to reboot after running the NIS 2011 uninstall -- i.e., not even the mouse or keyboard would work.  Nothing at all worked when I tried to restart after uninstalling NIS 2011. Even when I left the computer running all night, it still could not restart; it stayed in the 'hung' state permanently. )

I am running Windows XP, SP3 on an HP Mini 110 netbook.  This netbook successfully installed and ran NIS 2009 and NIS 2010, but now when I try to install /re-install the NIS 2011, my computer just hangs on reboot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.
