Could anyone please tell me when this will be available through live update. I undaerstand from Tim Lopezes recent post that it should be available to everyone within a few days of its release. I am still with version 16.0.0.125 my live update does not pick this update up yet.
You’ll get the update soon. I still don’t have it too, it could take more than a week, even two weeks to get the update. As far as I can remember, I’ve waited for update 16.2.0.7 more than a week.
If you use a localized version, that will have the update a little bit later than the english ones, because of the translating process.
Yeah same here. I’m using the Gaming Edition and Live Update doesn’t find any updates(aside from the virus definitions of course). Stuck on version 16.1. I guess I have a to wait a little while longer.
I'm not certain but I think I saw a post from Tim Lopez saying that the update for Gaming Edition might be a little longer than for the standard one.
Try a search here on [Gaming Edition] and see if you spot it.
I live in the UK and so I am already using the english version and not a localised version.

Yabbut -- that's the real English .... not USA/CAN (which might have French integrated?)
You may find that your version will come from Ireland and that it is localized compared with the USA/CAN version.
I'm not sure but it's always dangerous to assume anything with computers ....
As far as I can tell, it doesn't much matter where you live. I live in the U.S., have three computers, 2 XP and 1 Vista. One of the XP machines was upgraded on Monday past; the other two machines are still waiting.
I must admit that this concept of staggered updates makes no sense to me, not at this point. I could see a modicum of logic in the first two updates, trying to determine if Live Update could deliver the update correctly; and doing it on only a couple of thousand computers at a time -- so if there were a problem that required customer service, they could stop the updates before they went too far. In other words, the people who got the upgrades on the first couple of passes were essentially an involuntary group of beta testers. At this point, however, it's time for Symantec to make a commitment. It knows that the LU methodology works. And if they want to test the functionality of the updated version itself, then it should be through the normal beta process -- not by randoming selecting testers from users at large.
How is it possible you still havenot 16.2.0.7 ?
I sure hope the integration of the toolbar for Windows Mail is included in this Update,
Its Really annoying NOT being able to add Spammers/Not Spammers etc, there must be Millions Vista Users with this problem who are using Windows Mail

I remember this being stated recently for N360 V3 BETA but ISTR that it was done previously with NIS on the public release when it was major for the stated reason of spreading the load on servers -- there were certainly complaints about sluggish downloads and I saw this the other day on N360 V3 when I was dowloading at about 80Kps on a 7GB/s download link.
And of course there are the localized versions to prepare too.
Yes I know I can’t understand also why live update has not downloaded the 16.0.2.7 update. I can only think now that update 16.5 is out it has been taken off the server to make room for 6.5
Assuming that this is genuinely an attempt to reduce stress on the servers, it might be a strategy worth re-examining. A lot of people, once they learn there is a new version ready will immediately start launching Live Update every couple of seconds, like a mouse pressing a lever to get food. They will continue their desperate pursuit of the latest build for hours at a time. Each new click of that button forces a live contact with those servers out there -- one more increased load.
In general, updaters (not updates, mind you) tend to follow the rotation of the earth and the position of the sun in the sky. Less poetically, people turn on their machines when they are awake. They goes a long way to mitigate server stress. Additionally, Symantec could follow a strategy of the server simply not passing on that update package when it reaches a certain load level. But a simple slowing-down of delivery should not be a basis for refusal to pass on the update -- unless the slow-down got to critical levels. I think in the long run, there would be fewer unhappy customers, which means more users, which means more money (with this new lease, not own policy), which means perhaps more servers.
You mean the sun doesn’t go round the earth …

Now, if you read real carefully, you will see I never quite said that. Don't go calling me an heretic!
