hi Medico... ever run norton security scan or have norton identify a threat on the system lately?

Hi Mel,

 

Yes, it has identified cookies.  The scan does not scan all files as NIS.  However, I just reinstalled the program without the Add-on pack. I read that could be the problem. So far, I have seen no errors, thanks to God. Moreover, I applied Norton removal. I did not apply that before.  If the Add-on is not the problem for others, I may reinstall later. If that the case, my problem could be that I did not use the Norton Removal before. When I reinstalled the program, it was not stable. It caused the CPU to be active and the computer was unable to go to stand by automatically and the errors with Symantec Service Frame work.

hi Medico - glad to hear that you are up and going again... framework errors and add-on pack do appear to be linked in a number of posts that i've read... Sunny indicated that a problem with the framework had been in February and i'm assuming that you had LiveUpdated until the cows came home... 

 

anyway, if it were me, i probably wouldn't reinstall add-on pack if i didnt' really need it - but if you do, i'd log it (set up before reinstalling) and get the logs to Sunny through Tony...

 

btw - what process was burning your CPU?

When you had the Add-On Pack installed did you notice if this happened when you received a specific type of email?  What email client do you use?  Did you see this when sending or receiving email?  Did you see it when navigating the web?  Information on the crash is helpful, but if there are specific actions performed when the crash occurs can be very helpful.

The problem came back. Mel the process was ccSvcHst.exe. Erik it happened with no specific reason. I may have web pages but I did not see this before. The problem came back, I had more specifics.

The circumstances as follows, I was doing a complete scan. I noticed it was pausing in certain files. I let continue until next day. Next day, the computer went to hibernation. I awaked it up.  I noticed that was still doing scan of particular file. It was one of the restore files. Later the same message as before, a Norton 360 process has stopped running. To ensure stable operation, please restart your PC. After that, the message the Symantec Service Framework stopped responding appeared, the icon in the system tray gone. I noticed that the process still present looking at Task Manager.  The scan seemed frozen. I tried to pause or cancel no response. I closed the process, then all gone. I restarted my PC. I did a complete scan again; it went this time with no problems. This time it did not go to hibernation.  I wonder what happened. What is the real reason of this error? I do not think the Add-on is the problem or could it be both? I have not reinstalled the Add-on yet. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? It is some Windows Update or SP 1 causing this problem? Why the msl.dll? Finding why this file, it could help for the solution.

See 360 help and support. Type 'ccSvcHst.exe error' in the search box.

The return is 'Message:"ccApp.exe is not responding" during computer restart or shutdown in Norton 360 2.0'

The following 3 steps seem to have done the trick.

 

step 1,
Run LiveUpdate

 

step 2,
Delete Windows temporary files:
 exit all programs
 for windows xp, click start>run and type %temp% in the run dialogue box
 click ok
 on the edit menu select all and delete
 if asked to confirm the deletion, click yes
 ( some files may not be deleted due to current use by windows. Ignore these)

 

Step 3,
Delete Temporary Internet Files
start explorer,
on the tools menu, click Internet Options
Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
Check Delete all offline content box.
Click ok and then click ok again if necessary.

 

My computer now shuts down in less than 10 seconds flat.

I'm not sure if we are still o nthe same topic, but I see my thread was closed and re-routed here.  THe problem I was (and am) trying to solve is the Symantec Framework crash and associated refusal of Outlook 2007 to send or receive mail until NIS2008 (or the computer) is restarted. 

 

In answer to Sunny's question about the version of ccemlpxy.dll: The version is 107.0.5.5.  I have removed the add on pack and have not yet noticed a crash, but it hasn;t been too long.  I'll wait a week and post back.

 

I don;t know if I could say that a particular type of email causes this crash. As I said before, I belive that the crash occurs with Outlook closed, which would kind of negate that theory, but I can;t say this for absolute sure (but 90%).  I don;t really see it happen, I just come back to the computer after dinner, for example, open Outlook, and the mail doesn;t go.  Sometimes I see the Symantec Frameowrk stopped working dialog, other times not.
