Could you please post a screenshot? That way we could be sure.

Besides that please followe the following steps:

  1. upgrade to v2008

Hi i don't know if this is revelent but, I recently got a few bad viruses and had to reformat and lost everything in my computer. I'm using internet security 2007 which is about to expire and today i've been getting messages that antimalware cannot install. I never asked for this protection. I just wanted to know if this is a norton program. I have no idea where it's coming from and i'm scared to click on it. My computer is beingspammed right now by trojans and spy ware that norton is blocking but this one is still coming through. Also when windows tries to connect to the path it gives to install it can't find the path. Will someone tell me if this is another virus? I just has antivirus xp 2008 that compltetly ruined my computer and i don't want to have another virus right now.

thank you

There is an antimalware component to NIS, however when you say "click on it" it sounds like a pop up ad which would not be Norton. Norton messages are generally easily identifiable. Can you describe what these messages look like?  Do not click on them until we determine what they are.

You could easily upgrade for free to NIS 2008 here. It has a built in removal tool to uninstall NIS2007.

You say that you have just recently reformatted, yet you are getting hit with trojans and spyware. When you reformatted, did you physically disconnect from the internet when reinstalling Windows until such point that the Windows firewall was in place? If not, then yes, you may have become reinfected.

When reformatting, did you choose the "quick" or "full" version to format the drive? The full version does a better job erasing the drive.
