Rebate Confusion NIS 3 with Utilities Bundle Complaint 2016

Yesterday I bought the NIS 3 with Utilities Bundle at Frys. There is a $10 and a $30 rebate. The instructions are confusing and appear to give Symantec a way to refuse any rebate. The $30 rebate form asks for the original UPC code and then states "Retail box proof of purchase is located on the top inside flap of the box." The two are unrelated AND the retail box proof of purchase was mailed with the $10 rebate. There is only one retail box proof of purchase.

Next: I pre-submitted the rebate using the rebate site. That instructions ask for email confirmation (not sure that what is since it is NOT on the rebate form), original UPC, and store receipt. No mention of the box proof of purchase.

The $10 rebate asks for the Proof of Purchase tab, sales receipt, and proof of previous ownership (copy of a CD, first page of user's manual, or for OEM software a copy of the previous product's help screen) of Norton or Symantec product. Depending on how previous versions were purchased, there is no email confirmation. A few years ago when I purchased Norton Security at Amazon, I received a receipt and a separate Amazon notice with the key. If purchasing it through Norton as I did a year ago, I received on their web site an invoice and on the device screen the key. I do not recall receiving an email a year ago.

I have used Norton for over 10 years. Yet, these contradictory instructions and having to resurrect a year old email is beyond belief. Certainly as a long time user one would think that their processers could check the Norton database to see previous users. At the very least, have the instructions be clear and consistent. When calling the rebate hotline, there is no way to talk to a live person (including pressing 0). Frustrating!!!
