Is a reboot normally required when NAV detects a virus/malware? Do you have to reboot usually to complete the removal process?
Depending on the threat, a reboot can definitely be required after removing malware. Sometimes files cannot be unloaded for memory because they are running as a system process, or in other protected memory space, and cannot be killed while the system is running. They can, however, be removed before the system is fully booted, so Norton actually removes the threat while your system is starting up before the files can load. This is why reboots are sometimes necessary to fully remove a threat. We can probably give you more info if you let us know what files were infected and what the detection was.
this is from another post I have going, But I specifically wanted to be sure about rebooting and would that change th status from partially removed to completely removed
