I was rcently confronted to the dreadful blue screen and could not even start my laptop in safe mode, so I resorted to restore my laptop to factory default with the Recovery cd. About 27% into the process, it stopped, then after about 1mn I got this message "output A:/ghost. err?
then a YES and a NO options. The YES option generated another message like "write sector failure, result = 1, drive = ....." followed by sector numbers, and a message telling me to contact Symantec.
I had this probleme once before with the same laptop, but after cleaning the CD, it worked. This time though, it did not.
Apparently it's a common problem, but I'm yet to find the solution. Either my CD is damaged (yes there are some visible scratches on it), or my hard drive is faulty. How can I figure this out, so I don't end up buying and a new hard drive, and a new recovery cd?
