Hello All. I would have thought this is a typical problem and been answered, but I can't find it. The problem is that I have a very good quality external hard drive that I used in conjunction with Ghost 10 to store backup archives. The Ghost had some kind of defect that wouldn't allow it to be updated unless I removed all Norton stuff, etc. which I didn't want to and otherwise it did what it was supposed to. Recently due to a unrelated hardware issue, I reinstalled the OS (XP), and in order to get my Norton Internet up again, it uninstalled all the Norton stuff, i.e. also Ghost. So now I don't have Ghost, which isn't a very significant problem for me, but it turns out that Ghost had apparently "owned" the external drive so not even the OS can detect it anymore -- it is totally invisible - I can't even get a "USB device attached" notice, whereas when I had Ghost I could see it in File Manager, etc.
I don't give a fig anymore about the backup archives on the drive; I just want the use of it back -- I can't format it or anything, since nothing knows it is there. I'm sure there must be a simple-ish solution, but I don't know it. Can anyone please advise? I guess they don't call it Ghost for nothing.
