I have Norton Security for Mac. Today, while on the Ny Times website, the page I was reading suddenly was redirected to another page without any action from me. Norton Security did not identify the redirected sites, which were clearly scams and dangerous pages. I copied the URL to one of the redirected pages as follows: "hxxp://security.alert-network-apple.com/0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960616263646566676869707172737475767778798081828384858687888990919293949596979899" What can be done with Norton Security to stop these redirected pages. In addition, a voice comes over my computer warning me if I do not click on their scam button, then my hardware will be damaged. I shut down my browser (Safari). I ran a full scan of Norton Security and no threats were identified on my Mac.
Most likely a malicious ad on the NYT website using JavaScript to redirect. Use an ad blocker to prevent this. Norton will only block redirects to known malicious sites; new sites may not be blocked.
Requested move to Mac Board and also to disable that link to possible malware or scam.
