I just downloaded Norton Security 2010. In attempting to get setup with onlinefamily, I accidentally entered my daughter's email address/password. I can't find a way to delete that account.
To make matters worse, when I try to use my OWN email to setup an onlinefamily account, I get the message that I'm not registered. Then, when I try to register, I get the error message "Email address has already been registered to an account:".
In other words, I'm in an endless loop. I can't set up online family, because I can neither register nor log in. How do I get a clean slate to start over? Do I need to uninstall Norton Security? I have a feeling that won't work--will it (since onlinefamily is a web application--or does it work interactively with Norton Security, and uninstalling/reinstalling will solve this?)
You do not need to uninstall Norton Internet Security on your computer.
You mentioned that you accidentally entered your daughters email address. But it's not clear where you entrered this address.
Did you enter it when regsitering for an onlineFamily account on the onlinefamily.norton web site?
Did you enter it when installing the Norton Safety Minder?
Here's a suggestion, if you created an account with your daughter's email address and password. you can try logging into that account and modifying that account and changing the email and password associated with that account from within the account profile.
Thanks, Andrew--but how can I change her email address to mine (since Symantec also has account registered under my email account--but somehow won't let me use onlinefamily with it?)
I need to get rid of her account (that I registered accidentally), but that's only part of the problem: As I said, there appears to be an endless loop: Symantec has MYemail address, but won't let me setup online family.
I’m sorry–I didn’t answer your question. I entered her email and password on the onlinefamily site. As far as I can see, there is NO WAY to delete that account.
Sinceyou receive “Email address has already been registered to an account”, that means you have a Norton Account from a previous Norton product purchase. You probably already registered for OnlineFamily.Norton.Please logon to OnlineFamily.Norton with your Norton Account information (your email and password) to start to use the product.https://onlinefamily.norton.com/familysafety/loginStart.fs
