For a company that has spent years producing software that improves the performance of DOS and WIndows it surprises me that registering for this forum is so tediously painful and timewasting, for the following reasons:
- the 2 security words are very hard to read and there is no "show me another pair" like most sites have so it you are unable to decipher what the 2 words are, you can click on it until you get a set you can actually read. I rarely have trouble reading security codes, the ones on this forum are shockingly bad to read.
- the 2 security words are sometimes displayed with uppercase letters but the prompt does not say if it is case sensitive or not
- there is no button to check if a Username (nickname) is already in use or is available
- there is no dynamic checking of the password and the retyped password field to confirm if the verification password is the same as the original
If any of the above create an error, instead of being prompted on the fly to correct just that one field, the ENTIRE form has to be re-entered. It just took over 10 minutes to get one through successfully all because the Sign-Up page is poorly written.
Furthermore, there should not be a need to enter an e-mail address. Just because I have paid money for a Symantec product does not mean I want to be spammed with sales rubbish from marketing nor does it mean I wish to give my e-mail address to a company against my free will
I've been buying and using Symantec products since the DOS days but lately the amount of personal intrusion is getting unacceptable. Food for thought people.
