I recently changed my settings in N360 for when running a back ground check that it also includes a registry file check, automaticlly it has shows me that it needs it, but I don't want the registry to end up losing important files that it may need that N360 might find corrupt or dangerous...So I don't know what to do, should I let it run or just uncheck it in my included tasks in back ground check?

Here are two links in which the N 360 Registry Cleanup has been discussed in the past. Everyone needs to make a decision on their own.

I can tell you my Norton Tasks says that the Registry Cleaner has NEVER been run - so you know what my thoughts are. I'm sure we may have more.
Thank you for the links...Unfortunately I'm still confused on what to do....It tells me that there are errors in my registry and to click "fix it now"....I've been having problems with my Windows media player not working as it should, everything checked out and everything has been updated to making sure drivers are good, now the final one is a possible corrupted file in the registry..so that was why I was even considered running the registry clean up....It has never been run and I had no prior warnings that the registry needed attention until after I checked it in the scheduled tasks....

I would only run a registry cleaner to fix a problem AFTER I know what the problem is and whether it is caused by something in the registsry. I've seen too many computers disabled by letting registry cleaners go to work "blindly".
I'd suggest you concentrate on establishing exactly what is "not working as it should" including what that means! Can you describe the behviour?
If we can pin it down then Microsoft themselves have many Knowledge Base Articles dealing with errors and how to fix them and more and more include a FixIt button that carries out a specific change that may cure the problem.
Here's my boilerplate for more background on your system for a start:
To get you the best advice, would you give us some more information about your system:
What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help or Support / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn where n is a number.
If you have the COMCAST version of Norton 360 / Security Suite and not the normal commercial version please be sure to tell us.
If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.
Please also say what internet browser you are using -- name and version number ...
Hope we can help.
