Everything in Norton 360 (version 3.0.0.135) appears to be working except Registry Cleanup, which briefly shows a progress meter and then displays the dialog shown below. This appears to be the same problem reported by Bug, but in that thread, it appears that the only thing that got resolved was the meaning of Chinese characters on his screen shot. I've also seen a thread with the same problem but related to Windows 7 Beta, but I'm running Vista (details below).
I spent three hours this morning on on-line chat. The first guy tried to help but couldn't, he bumped it up to his supervisor, and his supervisor had no success either, finally telling me I had a Windows problem (because chkdsk reported "76 reparse records processed," which further research reveals is normal and not a problem at all).
I (and the on-line chat guys) have checked the Path environment variable, re-downloaded the program, done a complete uninstall and re-install, run Live Update, run chkdsk multiple times (the "supervisor" tried to tell me that chkdsk was the Windows program for checking the registry!), all to no avail.
I am running 32-bit Vista Home Premium SP2 (but had the same problem with SP1) on a Dell Studio 1735 and have no antivirus or firewall running other than Norton 360. Turning User Account Control off or on makes no difference. The PATH environment variable is
%SystemRoot%\system32;
%SystemRoot%;
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared\;
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\10.0\DLLShared\;
Any solution? (the reCAPTCHA verification for submitting this post has appropriately included the word, "whines"--heh.)
